Wandercraft, Parisian startup that has developed an alternative to wheelchairs has raised 4 million euros to develop Atalante, its exoskeleton that allows disabled people to regain their motor skills.

Wandercraft, the French startup behind Atalanta, an exoskeleton for medical use, has raised 4,000,000 euros, relays FrenchWeb. After raising 837,000 euros on participatory financing platform Anaxago capital, startup hosted in its capital the ACE Group, specializing in robotics and automated systems and the investment fund Innovation Capital.
Atalanta is the first exoskeleton able to stabilize and allow the user to walk without using crutches or joystick. A motorized mechanical structure adapted to an anthropomorphic approach is being developed.

As with Segways, the exoskeleton is controlled by the movement of the body. The user, initially in a vertical position need only lean slightly forward so that the exoskeleton switches on and reaches a speed of 3.5 km / h. Then it is sufficient to return to its initial position so that the exoskeleton is stabilized. Designed to promote independence and integration of people with muscular dystrophy and quadriplegics, Atalanta has a sophisticated algorithm to avoid or overcome obstacles such as sidewalks or stairs.
Wandercraft hopes to start its regulatory test phase in 2016 to start commercialization in 2017.
